DIY Laundry Room

So people think that laundry rooms really don’t deserve to be remodeled to make you want to be in there longer than you have to because it’s a drag anyway to have to to do your laundry along with everyone else’s right? However, I tend to disagree because I love to do laundry and I want, no I deserve a decent folding station (diy laundry folding station), I want more light to see what I am doing and just an overall cheerier vibe in the room (diy laundry room ideas). I guess it might be termed an unusual home decor request but why not? Who wouldn’t want some extra storage? or a sorting line (diy laundry hamper) yes, please! Let us use this time to focus on something else besides what detergent (diy laundry detergent) we will plan to buy on the next shopping trip and invest some time in the area where we spend considerable time at least twice a week. Let me tell you about my beloved laundry room; my laundry room was just a stark white and uninspired room, meant to do the laundry and get the hell out; I didn’t even have a chair to sit. That’s how bad I wanted to get in and out of the place, but I figured why not do something new and make it a bit more inviting and dare I say comfortable.

So the first task was to change the psychiatric feel of the room by selecting a better paint color for the walls and the cupboards; I went with a cafe au lait finish (I love coffee okay?) and I got some wooden countertops built to go over the washing machine and the dryer as well as the folding station for extra texture. Things were already looking better with just those small additions, but let me continue to tell you about the interior renovations. What I did to finish up that corner of the room( where I had the wooden countertops), I got a stone backsplash installed with some help from one of my friends and that gave a nice rustic feel to the overall decor. For the outlets that were exposed I had a nice design created where it was covered and no longer in plain view; next it was time for the lighting, I didn’t want it to be too soft because I need to see what stains came out and what stains didn’t, so I had a few rows of track lights installed on the ceiling and my preferred wattage screwed in. Bright without being overpowering and functional where I could see what was happening. People, the difference was so amazing, it’s not a hangout spot, but it’s also no longer a dreaded area. I can actually do my laundry and no longer feel like oh my goodness it sucks to be in here, shoot, I even brought my folding chair in with book yesterday so I would say that this was definitely an upgrade!

My diy laundry room ideas weren’t too farfetched I think, I was going to take this white room and make it into a warmer

(pun intended) and more cozy area of the house.

Since our laundry room was in the basement (small basement remodeling ideas), it was easier for me to have more autonomy to do whatever I wanted without getting in trouble (my wife is no joke) and I chose a sand colored paint for the walls.

Since I went with the sand colored paint, why not keep the theme going with some wooden accents!

Not bad at all, it came out pretty decent and I didn’t pay much for the materials.

Instead of just having everything all over the place, I put them back into the spaces they were supposed to be in so I could maintain the order I had going already.

Remember our boring white outlets, well they are now encased in stone and camouflaged in the best way.

It took a minute, but those cabinets had to go, I redid them in wood to match everything else below and it was time well spent.

She loved it. She was so surprised that I even thought to give attention to the laundry room of all places. Joy over runneth in the household.

I wanted my wife to know how much we love her, so we (the kids and I) made this sign and fixed it up on the folding station.

So I know everyone is not going to go for what I did only (or at all), so I included this little addition in case you had the space to create a sorting station as well.
